Kirra

She was a 7 month old eastern grey kangaroo joey that came into the Kulnura Veterinary Clinic in January 2009. Kirra was presented with a swollen arm that was found after she was taken into care. Kirra was orphaned when her mum was hung in a fence and she was thrown from the pouch. An x-ray showed a broken humerus, the upper arm bone and it was very painful. She was given pain relief medication, fluids and surgery was performed to pin the bone. The pin was removed after 5 weeks as the bone had healed.

It is now 12months later and we are happy to report that Kirra is living happily in the wild with other kangaroos and doing well.
