Australian Veterinary Association

Kulnura Veterinary Clinic is endorsed by the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) www.ava.com.au

They are a non-profit, incorporated body composed of members of the veterinary profession. The association was founded in 1921 when members of a few state associations were presented with the opportunity of speaking and acting with a single voice. The membership has increased from the original 84 to today's total of 4180. There are approximately 7000 registered veterinarians in Australia.

The mission of the AVA is to support and promote excellence in the veterinary profession through service to members and the community. This mission is pursued through the following activities:

Representation of the profession to governments at all levels and the general community on all matters relating to animals, the animal industries and the veterinary profession.

Developing policies and codes of practice on relevant subjects for the guidance of members and to inform the public.

Conducting surveys of the profession and preparing strategic plans for the development of the Association for the benefit of its members and the profession at large.

Preparing guidelines on professional relations and interactions, including a code of ethics, for the guidance of members.

Conducting meetings on matters of interest to the veterinary profession, including scientific, professional and lifestyle issues.

Publication of the Australian Veterinary Journal, a monthly magazine containing the latest veterinary news, views and scientific research.

The national office of the AVA is based in Sydney, with offices also in Melbourne and Canberra.
